For Parents

There are three statewide parent agencies that are partnered with NCSIP II: the Exceptional Children Assistance Center (ECAC), the Learning Disabilities Association of North Carolina (LDANC), and the Arc of North Carolina (ARC NC). In addition, local parent association chapters will contribute parent time to assist with parent-to-parent training activities.

> The Exceptional Children’s Assistance Center (ECAC), located in Davidson, North Carolina is the lead partner in providing (a) parent training, (b) resources for parents and (c) technical assistance for parents of students with disabilities. To improve parent communication and involvement with the NC SIP II project, ECAC provided assistance in working with parents and parent groups during the first five years of the project and will continue to work in partnership with NC DPI in an expansion of the program over the next five years. The ECAC activities will include coordinating meetings to develop statewide parent assistance activities that will include the Learning Disabilities Association of North Carolina and the ARC of North Carolina. ECAC uses the statewide distribution of ECAC News Line to publicize purposes, activities and events of NC SIP II.
